Dr. Carlock Fellowship-Trained Orthopedic Surgeon Hip & Knee Reconstruction Specialist

Dr. Kurtis Carlock is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty expertise in hip and knee replacement. His clinical focus includes both operative and non-operative management of hip and knee arthritis, with particular emphasis on primary and complex revision arthroplasty.

A native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Carlock is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia and subsequently received his Doctor of Medicine from the New York University School of Medicine.

Dr. Carlock completed his orthopedic surgery training at the renowned University of Washington/Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident and was recognized with the Chief Resident Teaching Award for excellence in education.

He then pursued advanced fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive Hip and Knee Surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. There, he gained extensive experience in minimally invasive joint replacement, rapid recovery outpatient joint replacement, complex revision surgery, prosthetic joint infection management, and robotic-assisted surgery.

An active contributor to the field, Dr. Carlock has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and educational lectures. He is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

Dr. Carlock is known for his patient-centered approach. He is dedicated to ensuring that each patient is fully informed and actively engaged in their care, and creates personalized treatment plans based on each individual’s symptoms and goals.
